Your Legal Rights If You Have Been Accused of a Crime

Whether or not you were arrested, you have the right to remain silent about any alleged violations. As it says in the famous “Miranda warning, If you give up that right, anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law.”

You also have the right to an attorney and to have an attorney present during any questioning. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be provided to you at no cost.

What isn’t included when the police read you your rights is the right to a search and arrest that follows police regulations. If the police made any mistake in police procedure, our criminal defense lawyers will know and will be able to get your case thrown out of court.

Your Legal Rights After Suffering an Auto Accident

You have a right to speak to an attorney before signing anything given to you by the insurance company. Often the people from the insurance company will make you an offer that is seemingly generous actually much too low. You might use all the money and then find yourself with unpaid medical bills and lost wages in the future. An experienced auto accident lawyer can tell you in a free initial consultation the true amount of money you will need.

You have a right to immediate treatment for any injuries. No matter what your insurance situation, you need to get treated for any possible injuries immediately. Any delay could be seen as suspicious, and moreover, if you are in pain, you need to find out the extent of the injury. You could be suffering from a more serious injury than you realize.

Your Legal Rights If You Have Been Hurt at Work

You have a very basic right to work in a safe workplace. There may be conditions that seem normal, such as standing pools of water or dangerous machinery, that actually make the company liable to work-related injury lawsuits. It may not be the fault of the management; perhaps the original manufacturer of the machinery created a dangerous product. Either way, someone should be held accountable for your medical bills, lost wages, and pain and suffering.

You also have a right to stage a lawsuit without fear of being fired. If you are a salaried employee, you cannot be terminated just because you stand up for your rights and mount a lawsuit over a work-related injury. In a free initial consultation, our workers compensation lawyers can tell anyone hurt at work what they need to know.

Your Legal Rights if You Have Been Hurt on Someone Else's Property

Everyone who enters someone else’s building or lot has a right to walk through safe premises. When you are at a grocery store, a restaurant, an apartment, and you are hurt because of a standing pool of water, a large hole in the floor or ground, an object falling from above, or any other dangerous object, you may be able to recover compensation for your injuries.

Everyone has a right to not fear assault because of inadequate security. Buildings have a responsibility to provide security that will guard against assaults on their premises. If you have been assaulted in a place with inadequate security, you need to consult with a premises liability attorney.
